Materials for Pasadena remodels, ADUs and gardens

Under the hundred year old house

Pasadena remodel work often starts beneath a Craftsman era house: new footings, a replaced foundation, a slab where there was crawl space. Class 2 Base or Crushed Miscellaneous Base to compact underneath, Coarse Builder’s Sand and Washed Concrete Sand for bedding, and C-Mix blended with 3/8 in to 1 in rock for mixing on site.

ADUs and backyard builds

Garage conversions and backyard units go up on small pads with tight access, and the materials suit small loads: base for the pad, sand for bedding, drain rock for the French drain along the new footing. Minimum order is one cubic yard, so a small job does not have to buy like a big one.

A city with its own building department

Pasadena runs its own permits and inspections through the city, unlike Altadena next door, which is unincorporated county. If the plans call for a particular base or fill, call 800‑777‑6299 and read us the spec before the first load.

How delivery to Pasadena works

15 miles from our yard

Our trucks run out of the yard in San Fernando to Pasadena on the 210 east, the same foothill run as La Cañada Flintridge and Altadena. Enter your ZIP and you see what we deliver to your address, with delivery already in the price.

One to ten yards a load

Minimum order is one cubic yard. Each 10 wheel dump truck carries up to 10 cubic yards of most materials, less by weight for heavier products such as Class 2 base. Bigger orders go out across more than one load.

Access on foothill streets

The truck needs about 12 feet of clear width, firm level ground and open sky over the drop spot, because the bed lifts to roughly 22 feet to tip. Watch for low wires and branches, and mark the spot with a stake or a cone.

Pasadena, street by street

Our delivery ZIPs for Pasadena are 91101 through 91107, which cover the city from Linda Vista and the Arroyo across Old Pasadena and Madison Heights to Bungalow Heaven, Victory Park and Hastings Ranch. The trucks leave the 210 at Fair Oaks Avenue, Lake Avenue, Hill Avenue or Sierra Madre Villa Avenue, depending on where you are. Post office box ZIPs such as 91102 and 91109 are boxes only, so use your street ZIP when you order.

Most Pasadena streets are wide and flat compared with the foothill blocks north of town, so access is rarely the problem it can be up the hill. The things to watch are the old tree canopy over streets in Bungalow Heaven and Madison Heights, and curb space: keep the stretch in front of the drop spot clear on the day. North of Washington Boulevard the ground climbs toward Altadena, and up there the driveway check in the questions below is worth doing. If you are not sure, call 800‑777‑6299 with the address.

Pasadena delivery questions

Call us at 800-777-6299

Yes. Pasadena is inside our delivery area, ZIPs 91101 through 91107, on our own 10 wheel dump trucks out of San Fernando. Enter your ZIP at the top of the page to see what we deliver to your address, with delivery already in the price, or call 800‑777‑6299.

Orders placed before midnight go out the next day, seven days a week. Delays do happen, and location plays a part, so if one hits your order we let you know. For a particular day, say so when you order or call 800‑777‑6299.

The pad wants a compacted layer of Class 2 Base or Crushed Miscellaneous Base, with Coarse Builder’s Sand or Washed Concrete Sand for bedding and backfill, and C-Mix if the slab is being mixed on site. A French drain along the new footing takes Drain Rock or 3/4 in Crushed Rock. Order 20 to 25 percent extra on base, because it compacts.

The truck tips where it can stand, with the clear width and overhead room described above. For a backyard pad, that usually means dropping the load on the driveway or at the curb rather than at the slab. On the climbing streets north of Washington Boulevard, call 800‑777‑6299 with the address before you order if you are not sure.

91101, 91103, 91104, 91105, 91106 and 91107, which cover Pasadena’s street addresses. Box ZIPs such as 91102 and 91109 have no street addresses, so order with the ZIP the property sits in. We also deliver next door in Altadena, San Marino and South Pasadena.

One cubic yard, the same as everywhere we deliver, so a single yard of decomposed granite for a path goes out to Pasadena as readily as ten yards of base for a slab. Each 10 wheel truck holds up to 10 cubic yards of most materials, less by weight for heavier products such as Class 2 base, and bigger orders go across more than one truck.

Yes. The price you see on each material is the delivered price to your Pasadena address, and nothing is added for freight at checkout.

Every price on the site is already the delivered price, with nothing added for freight at checkout. Enter your ZIP at the top of the page, pick the material, and price the job as the cubic yards you need times the price per yard. A full truckload is up to 10 cubic yards of most materials, the minimum order is one cubic yard, and the cubic yards calculator works out the yards from length, width and depth.

Also delivering in the foothills and San Gabriel Valley

Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Glendale, San Marino, South Pasadena and most of Los Angeles County. Enter your ZIP, or call 800‑777‑6299.
